My Journey
Horses have always been my passion and from age 5 I wanted to be a vet. I got my first pony when I was 8 years old and have never been without one since. When I left school I did an Equine Science degree at Bristol university then went on to study veterinary science at Liverpool university. I qualified in 2006 and have worked in both equine and small animal practice for many years.
I have competed in many equestrian disciplines over the years and have trained with many professionals. A very special horse with both physical and behavioural issues sent me on a new journey which has been amazing. I was desperate to help her and she set me on a new path which has taught me a whole new way to communicate and connect with horses.

To help with physical issues primarily I trained in correct biomechanics of movement using classical in hand work, groundwork, liberty and ridden work to help horses move in a correct way that promotes both physical and mental calmness and comfort. This builds up the correct muscles and weight distribution to safely carry a rider.

I did both of Elsa Sinclairs courses (freedom based training) learning body language and developing instrinsic motivation within the horse without the use of tools, food rewards or obvious motivators. I have studied with Warick Schiller learning how to forge a deep connection with horses, putting relationship and attunement first. I have learnt the trust technique which is amazing for relaxing horses when they are put in a situation that makes them anxious. I have done an in depth positive reinforcement training course in which I learnt the science of learning theory and how to break down teaching a behaviour into very small aproximations which makes it easier for the horse to understand and learn. I also follow Sarah Schlote who studies healing trauma in horses. I am planning on doing her course later this year. I love to learn and am a forever student. I use a combination of methods that I have learnt and have 16 horses here who teach me and shape what I do. I am deeply passionate about helping horses and their owners to overcome any issues and develop the deep bond and level of harmony they have dreamed of.
